For someone who just turned 35 Steven has been in the computer industry for a surprisingly long time; with over 17 years experience he is Uptown Computer's Senior Technician.

At 18 Steven started his first job as a computer repair technician at a San Diego County computer store. He quickly became Assistant Manager of the store until finally moving onto a consulting gig for himself approximately a year and a half later.

Steven studied journalism in high school and college and served as technical editor on his college news paper.

During the mid 90's Steven worked as an computer animator for a San Diego based animation and post production house. He has an extensive knowledge of all things video and graphics oriented including print work.

Steven's enthusiasm for computers can be traced back far beyond his 18th birthday to somewhere around age eight. His father; Alan, also a computer enthusiast; built a Heath Kit H-89 computer system from scratch. With this computer and a copy of the original text based game Adventure his interest in computers began.

A string of computers were introduced to him through his father, family, friends, neighbors and school. He has used computers from Heath Kit's to Atari 400/800's, Commodore 64's, the original Macintosh up through the modern Macintosh's. He has of course experienced the entire line of Intel® based computers from the original Intel based 8086 onto the 8088 and 286 to the 386 and on to the 486 line of processors. He has also been professionally involved in the entire line of Pentium® Processors from the original Pentium® 60Mhz to the present day Pentium® 4 workstations and Xeon line of server processors.

Steven's specialty is servers and network configuration.

"I enjoy the challenge that is associated with configuring and maintaining servers and workstations. I especially enjoy solving the truly difficult problems that can occur in large network enviroments."
